Volunteer With Us

As a non-profit, community-based organization, Madrone Hospice carries a deep respect for our volunteers.  When Madrone started back in 1985, we were staffed by ONLY volunteers: area nurses would freely give their time to connect with and support patients in need.

Today, Madrone has many different areas in which volunteers can get involved.  There are opportunities to provide support to patients in their homes, to help in our two shops in downtown Yreka, to help with meal deliveries, and to support our office.  If you are interested, please contact us, and we will help you get involved!

  • Connect personally with patients who are receiving hospice care. Volunteers will meet patients in their homes or in our Hospice House to converse, read out loud, provide light housework, play a board game, etc. Sometimes, this will allow for the patient’s loved ones to take a break to run errands.

  • Support our businesses by cleaning and pricing donations, stocking shelves in the shops, or working at the register and helping customers. Volunteers with a crafty side can help create handmade products for our Heartisan Boutique.

  • Help our Senior Services Team by joining a meal delivery route and bringing fresh lunches to folks in our community!

  • Madrone’s Administrative offices are always busy—volunteers can help with preparing informational packets, organizing files, stuffing envelopes, and supporting upcoming events.

  • Our Madrone House and offices sit amidst a lovely landscape with gardens. We invite volunteers with a green thumb to get involved with weeding, plant care, and general clean-up, and we organize work parties on some weekends!

Madrone deeply values our staff & volunteers
