Caregivers dedicate, on average 20 hours per week to provide care to their family members. The role of caregiving often takes a high toll on the emotional, physical, and financial well-being of the caregiver.
The Caregiver Support Program assists family caregivers in Siskiyou County by offering a full complement of services designed to address their caregiving needs.
Services:
Specialized Information - We provide information and assistance regarding resources, care options, and available services.
Education & training - Classes, workshops, and conferences on a variety of topics relevant to caregiver issues.
Care Management - Assistance to caregivers in resolving current issues and planning for immediate and long-term care.
Caregiver Support - Ongoing emotional support is provided through phone contact, monthly support groups, weekend retreats and professions counseling.
Respite - Respite provides a period of short term relief from the daily stresses of caring for a family member. Services are available for in-home help, adult day care, and short-term 24 hour care.
Home Safety - A home safety evaluation and assessment can be provided to help prevent and reduce falls. Home safety equipment, such as grab bars, shower benches and automatic phone dialers can be purchased and installed. Minor home modification is available on a limited basis.
Legal Assistance - Consultation with an attorney regarding issues such as review of trusts, power of attorneys, and related matters relevant to caregiving is available.
